Monday 19th Nov to Sunday 25th November 2007
Monday 19th November

We had a nice weekend away. R stayed in my sisters. She has a really crappy cold though at the moment and woke up this morning with a very sore throat and very chapped lips from breathing through her nose all night. So she is at home today not feeling very well.
J stayed at home while we had out night away, he had a few friends stay over and am pleased to say he tidied the house up really nice before we got home!!!! Him and his friends watched some movies and ate a lot of pizza and other junk food I think!
Here I am outside the hotel that we stayed in, in Rhos-On-Sea. Not a very clear pic as it was taken with my mobile phone (I forgot to take my camera).
We got to Rho-On-Sea, booked into the hotel (Sat afternoon) then we spent a few hours wandering round the shops and cafes which was really nice even though the weather was cold. We got back to the hotel and went down to the bar, played a quick game of pool and then ordered eve meal . We then decided to walk back inot the town bit with a view to finding a nice pub for an hour or 2 before returning to the hotel.
We found an ok pub (the usual Beefeater type pne). About an hour later lots of people started arriving, including a bloke who looked like a singer (had a PA system etc). OK, we thought - we'll see if the entertainment is any good then go back to hotel.
Several hours later! Actually it turned out to be Karaoke (arghghghghghghgh). We left the pub at 12.30am (yep, past midnight). We forgot that pubs can stay open 24 hrs now - how on earth do people do it?
Had a really nice breakfast in the hotel in the morning then we left and headed off to Llandudno for a few hours.

PROBLEM - it is 26 days till the work party and I DO NOT want to be there at THIS weight.
SOLUTION -- Diet and exercise LIKE MAD
PROBLEM - I am not very good at it.

Going to the gym as often as I can will help I am sure. I would have liked to have gone today but it was not possible. R was off school and then J turned up (he had walked almost the whole way to school, decided he felt yuck and then turned round and walked back home (I am worried about the amount of time he is off school. I know he too feels yuck but there doesn't seem to be a medical reason for this (all his bloods came nack ok). He does seem to take time off from school so easily when he does not feel 100%. I rang the school hoping to speak to the head of 6th form (she was meant to ring me but didn't). I don't know what to do.

Anyway - yes, going to the gym will help. I have been eating really badily lately. Not eating proper meals, just eating crappily. LIke today. I had toast for brekky, cereal for lunch, meatballs and cad smash for tea then another bowl of cheerios. THAT is so NOT a balanced diet.
It's almost like I can't be bothered. But I have to get a grip on my eating, on the diet of the whole family. This is getting ridiculous. And it's even more important this time of year, to eat properly (what with all the bugs/tummy bugs and colds etc going round). Am not doing a very good job of looking after us all am I.

I got 'tagged' by Janey recently

I have been so so lazy today really. R spent the day on the couch cuddled under a blanket and well, that's pretty much what I did too. Should have spent the day tidying, but arghghghg what the heck. How often do I get a day where I just lay around doing nothing? (Errmmmm.......well, actually probably a bit too often on my days off). Arrrr though to be fair, lately I do GO TO THE GYM and stuff. And from the beginning of December I will be working All day Tuesday/Half day Wed. All day Thursday and ALL day Friday. So then my only day off will be a Monday (which I will spend at the gym of course)

The Pier at Rhos-On_Sea which we did not go on (but should have), I took this pic on my camera phone as we drove past it.

Tonya sent me the link to these tips - I think I shall aim to follow them

1. Eat protein
At every meal, including breakfast.

2. Eliminate wheat - and flour-based products
For the time being. And yes, that definitely includes bread and pasta.

3. Eat unprocessed foods
90 percent of what you eat should be food that could have been hunted, caught, gathered from the ground or plucked from a tree.

4. Reduce starch
To one portion a day, and don't eat that portion during your evening meal. Best choices are oats, sweet potatoes and beans.

5. Don't overdo fruit
Two a day maximum, and only the low-sugar, high-fibre variety. Apples, pears, plums and berries all are good choices. Bananas are not. For now, fruit should be eaten alone or with something light like nuts or a little cheese. Lose the fruit juice.

6. Reduce or eliminate dairy
For the time being, especially cow's milk. Exceptions: reasonable amounts of cheese and occasional portions of yogurt, but not the fat-free kind (it contains way too much sugar).

7. Lose the booze
Despite what the studies say, you lose no health benefits by giving up alcohol. There is nothing essential in alcohol that you can't get in fruits and vegetables.

8. Stop using vegetable oils
Such as sunflower. The supermarket kind is highly refined, and it oxidizes easily when heated, contributing to arterial plaque. Use olive oil instead.

9. Watch which types of fat you're eating
The amount of fat you eat is probably less important than the kind of fat you eat. The worst are fried foods, margarine and foods that contain hydrogenised or partially hydrogenised oils. The best is omega-3, found in fish and flaxseed oil.

10. Obsessively drink water
At least eight or more large glasses each day. Every day. No excuses

Tuesday 20th November Happy birthday to my sister Vanessa (who is 43 today!)
Both kids off school coughing their heads off. J did walk there but came back. Have to speak to school and GP about this>
Attacking all the mess in the bedroom (it's kind of exercise isn't it). Might see if I can go to Gym tonight for an hour after Neil gets home????
Had s ahske for brekky (all yummy 212 cals of it - ha) but when I made the kids something to eat mid morning that made me hungry so I had a plain omelete. Thought I'd give the shakes a go (finish off what I have)....dunno? The mere thought of doing the shakes for a week or 2 makes me want to stuff my face.
Wed 21st November 2007 Can you believe that this little iddy-biddy teeney weeney sandwich is 200 caloties? I made it myself, so it is. The bread (seeded batch) is so smal. It had one slice of chicken on it and some cranberry sauce. Looking at this I would not have said 200 cals Plus this was my lunch and un the real world I would have wanted to eat at least 3 of these to fill me up.
Let me say - it was small (and my hands are small - so that tells you even more just how small my sandwich was.
Ah well - it was either that or a powdery slim shake. I did enjoy the sandwich and took my time nibbling it!!!!!!
Went to the gym after work
Friday 23rd November 2007

YEAH on my scales this mowning I am 143 lbs (think I was about 145 last time on mine). Need to go by the gym ones really, but still.
7.30am and need to go to work son (too knackered, could have done with a LONG lie in). Today is going to be a long day. Neil will pick me up from work and then drop R and I off at the gym (about 5.10 pm) Then I am aiming on going dancing tonight too (8 till 10.20). I have got to have a lie in tomorrow!!!!

Neil has ordered a treadmill and it is coming today (where the hecks it going to go?). It does fold up apparently and is motorised not manual.

Sat 24th November 2007

R and I went to the gym last night and after I went and did a 2 hour dance class.
We also went to the gym today which was nice. R had the rest of her induction. We also had lunch in the gym, I was good and had plain chicken salad. I am determined to get back down to near 8st.
Anyway. R and I both agree one of the gym instructors is rather cute (too old for her, too young for me AH WELL)...............and we also agreed he looks like he should be in a boy band hehe!!!!

J, Neil and I are off to see Paramore in January. I want to go and see MCR again and Bowling For Soup but would also like to see SUM 41 and Blink 182 (though they are not together now unfortunately).

Sunday 25th November 2007

Neil, J and Chris (J's cousin) had 1850 project band practise today so on their way they dropped R and I off at the gym.
We stayed from 10.45am till 3.15pm. The gym (Total Fitness) was pretty empty really. We went on the machines and then we went in the pool and we had a small lunch their. R and I had lentil soup.
We went to Neil's mum and dads as yesterday it was Neil's mums 79th birthday. Neil's brother and his 2 kids (C and D) were there too - we had a kind of mini party. LOADS of food - I ate far too much.
R has said she wants a break from the gym after shool tomorrow so I am going to go in the day on my own and this time I am going to go in the hydrotherapy pool (if I can muster up the courage to walk along to it, not that it's far, it's just easier if you go with someone, unfortunately R is not allowed in it, she is too young.
Am about to get into bed now at 10pm as totally knackered (have a good book to read)
