Monday 29th October to Sunday 4th November 2007

Monday 29th October

Am not going to weigh myself today - or maybe I will but keep it to myself!!!

Plan for today

Go for long walk
Do Walk Away the Pounds DVD (2 mile walk)
Eat healthily ALL day
NO snacking after 8pm

I haven't hopped on the scales this morning (I forgot - honest!), but I will weigh myself tomorrow just to see how much I have gained and to get my new starting point.
This morning I woke up feeling VERY motivated. I had a healthy bowl of porridge with raspberries for breakfast. It wasn't very nice looking in the mirror and seeing just how big I look around the middle (why does it always go on there first???).

R too this pic of me at 8.10 am this morning (as you can see from the clock!). I know I don't look THAT big but I certainly feel it. The side view is worse (and I was holding as much of it in as I could)!

Arghghghghghghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
R and I this morning.

9.40am - One of the mums at school said "Do you want a lift home"? Well, how could I refuse. Got home, made a coffee whilst at the same time houvering the front room (women are so so good at multi-tasking). Knock at the door and it was J back from school. He had gone in complaining he did not feel 100% and come stright back home again (after speaking to a teacher).
Then it hailed (so am very glad I did not go for long walk, that plus J coming home). So am now about to blitz the bedroom (major tidy and cleaning)
My eye is aching, am worried about it. Got to wait till I see one of the Dr's though, hopefully Wednesday or maybe Thur/Fri - don't know.

Housework uses up calories! Also I have been very good on my diet so far. The early part of the day is never actually a problem though. I am NOT going to snack after 8pm.

Have gone over on my calories for the day (am aiming for under 1400) and today I had 1607. It is 7pm and I will NOT eat anything else tonight.

Neil came in from Tesco with all manner of goodies, though I was not in the mood for cabbage or stuff like that! So I had a big handful of Brazil nuts (hopefully I won't have stomach ache later). So yes - I have gone over my calories today, I had 1811 in the end (or rather so far at 8.45 pm). Have not done very well with the not eating after 8 pm thing..though 8.20 pm is not too bad as long as I eat NOTHING later (we are going to watch a film Die Hard 4 Bruce Willis) I am sure totally sure I can resist going into the kitchen (apart from cups of tea of course).

HOW THE DAY WENT

Did not manage long walk (it hailed and it was cold)
Did not manage to do the Walk Away the Pounds DVD (Thought about it though)
Did not manage to NOT eat after 8 pm (Nealry managed this one, not quite).
Ate failry healthily except for the rich tea biscuits covered with chocolate spread ok.

TOMORROW, there will be more DID'S

Tuesday 30th Oct 07

Weight - 10 st 7 lbs (147 lbs)
Gain - LOADS
Lbs to lose - 27

PLAN FOR THE DAY

Walk to the village and back (2 miles altogether)
Eat healthily
NO eating after 8pm
Do the 2 mile Walk Away The Pounds DVD

It's 7am (time to get up). I AM going to have a good day today, I AM. R is complaining her foot is hurting her, she may have twisted it? It looks fine though (and there is PE today at school). Agghghghg. Filled in an online query about a local gym - of course they were on the phone to me straight away. So tonight at 7.30pm we (Neil, R and I) are going there for a look and to see what offers are on and how much it would cost for the 3 of us to go there (J is not interested). If it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, we'll think about it. There's lots there for the kids apparently - loads to motivate them etc and they even have smaller versions of gym machines so they can work out alongside you. I am totally worried about R's weight (she is now 130 lbs - way to much for age 10 and she is not as tall as me).

As you can see I have gained some weight (lots), I knew I had. All that eating out and extra snacking and wine at the weekends has got to catch up somewhere - unfortunately the somewhere is on me. Never mind. Today is a new day (despite yesterday being a BAD day). Had a good start with a fruit and yogurt breakfast.

Took J to the Dr's (he has to have some blood tests - general ones FBC, Glucose, ESR, Thyroid and a Paul Bunnell test (Glandular Fever) I think that's about it Dr thinks all will probab;y come back negative.

Had the yummiest evening meal (made by myself of course). I did stilr fry pork with garlic, ginger, spring onion, courgette and mushrooms. Decided at the last minute to add a small sachet of sweet and sour sauce....made this with basmati rice (I weighed out 100g of it for me - flippin heck it was not much. To make mine look 'more' I added a huge amount of shredded cabbage medley (hope there's not too much wind later). Plated up J's and Neil's though R did not want any so she had pasta in cheese and leek sauce (sorry to say it came from a packet). Must try and encourage R to eat different thigns. Yes I know I can on occcasion 'burn' things but that's very rare. Did not burn tonights dinner - not one bit.

HOW THE DAY WENT

Walk to village and back
Ate healthily
Failed to NOT eat after 8pm
Didn't do 2 mile walk dvd

AND well, we joined the gym, R, myself and Neil. It's a HUGE gym and they have kids machines so R can workout alongside me! We have our inductions/health checks at the weekend, though mine is on Tuesday.

Wed 31st Oct

7am - time to get up, could've done with a lie in. I am in work this morning (only half day so that is good).

PLAN FOR THE DAY

Eat as healthy as I can (avoid Halloween goodies)
Go to 2 hour dance class in evening
TRY not to eat after 8pm (am determined to do this one)

The house is quiet. R has gone to breakfast club at school, J had gone to school and Neil has gone to work (it's 7.55 am and I get picked u[ about 8.10 am).

Arghghgh my uniform is getting tight. Hopefully the gym (as often as possible) and better eating (as often as possible) will fix this.

2pm - I'm home. I am seeing the Consultant about my eye on Tuesday....I will not worry until then.
R does not seem too bothered about doing anything for Halloween tonight. We have some sweeties in for trick or treat. Am glad she does not want to do anything as I can't really be bothered to be honest. Some years we have done stuff and dressed up and it's been fun, but this time I am just not in the mood.

R and I managed to make a cake! Ok, it's not perfect but we had a piece each - yummy (victoria sponge with butter cream filling and the spooky icing on top)! Not bad considering we didn't have much in the cupboards. Felt sorry for R when I picked her up from school as loads of the girls and boys were all giggly and happy about the fact they were all getting together to go trick or treating. I know R would have loved to have gone. No one asked if R might like to join them - I know she was a bit upset about this.
R doesn't get invited to things and often feels left out. Perhaps it's her attitude ( don't know), the girls don't particularly like her - it's a pity. I am hoping things change when she goes to high school. I am hoping going to the gym will help her. I blame myself for the way things are, you always do as a parent don't you.

Am feeling particularly fat and frumpy tonight and not at all in the mood for dancing, but I will go along cos I so need the exercise!

HOW THE DAY WENT

DID not manage to avoid Haloween goodies (we had very few in and as it happened we had no one call anyway, so I did absentmindedidly eat some)
Ate fairly healthily
DID an hours dance class
DID NOT manage to avoid eating after 8 pm (I have to work on this one)

Thursday 1st November

I cannot believe how quickly the weeks are flying by. It's 7 am, time to get ready for work.

PLAN FOR THE DAY

NO eating after 8pm
DO 2 mile walk dvd
Eat as healthily as possible
MAke an effort to smile more today

Ok day in work, though eye was aching in morning so worried me a lot. Am seeing the consultant on Tue 1.30pm. I have my gym induction/health check on Tue morning at 11 am.
Am tired, headachey - not in mood for tidying/cleaning house (but no bugger else is going to do it). Seem to be stress eating in the evenings - funny how it's always the evenings.

HOW I DID TODAY

Have not eaten after 8 pm
Did not do 2 mile walk dvd (too knackered)
Ate quite healthily but must try to avoid rice crispies after tea
Dunno whether I smiled more today - too stressed/achey/busy with work really and then when got home - too stressed/busy/knackered. Though had nice cuddle with R before she went to bed.

A cute little cat has taken to coming and visiting us each day. He or she has a collar on but can't see the name, not quite sure where he/she lives either - think it is a few doors away. So sweet. He/she timidly came into the house today and did not seem to want to leave. He/she is well looked after and well fed, I think he/she must visit all houses in neighbourhood and get spoilt by all. So we have a part-time cat which is nice for R.......am quite happy for him/her to call occasionally.

J has his blood tests in the morning, I know he is SO SO nervous about this, he cannot eat from 6pm earlier tonight, had to ring him at his friends house to remind him (felt mean doing this). It's 8.30pm and he is not home yet but must make sure there are no cooking/food smells when he gets home as this is not fair on him (he'll be starving hungry!). His blood test is 8.15 am in morning (then he can eat after that.

Friday 2nd November

I just about managed to stick to the 1400 calories yesterday which is good, though I am still snacking too much in the evening (and I did managed to do it before 8 pm).

Time to get ready for work (goran). J, R and I are off to brother-in-laws tonight as is nephews 17th birthday and they always have a fireworkds party (just for few family and friends).

PLAN FOR THE DAY

Get through it
Eat as little as possible in party and avoid alcohol (if any there)

Stay under 1400 cals

Sat 3rd November 07

Ok day yesterday.

HOW THE DAY WENT!

Got through it (just)
Ate loads at party (damn) and drank some wine (double damn)
Trillions of calories.

Neil picked us all up from party at 11.15 pm...left party at 11.45 pm.......we were the last ones there. Kids had a great time making a small bonfire in the garden

PLAN FOR THE DAY

WHATEVER - it's the weekend!!! It's just after 7.30am and J and I are off to Liverpool at 8.30am (am hoping to drag him into a few shops before we come home - though he is coming home, meeting his friend and going back to Liverpool, ah well.

Have got a 'party'/get together tonight. Elaine is picking me up, we are going to Jaz's, she is emigrating to Australia at the end of the year (she works in the Eye Department), she is having a leaving do at her flat

Went to Liverpool with J, very rushed and then I had to carry drum gear home (very heavy). J stayed there cos he was meeting a load of mates. Went in to the HUGE 5 floor Primark shop in Liverpool - (not easy with moaning teenage son muttering about CHAV'S and saying "Get me outta here" every few seconds.

Why don't sports wear shops stock stuff in for larger people (ie above a size 12?). Well, ok I got 2 t-shirts size 18 but they may as well say size 10 on them for all they fit - ie too bloody tight (you can see every roll of flab in great detail, I look weird).
Poor Neil did even worse than me. The largest they went up to was XL (XL what? It says XL on the label but don't you believe it).
Ok, cos I'm short I did manage to buy and get into a pair of age 13 to 14 jogging pants - but only by sheer pulling and stretching!!! Anythng with lycra in is a total bugger (lycrap I say).
We spent ages looking round 2 of these CHAV like shops, feeling enormous. All we wanted was loose, comfy workout stuff. NO CHANCE.

Sun 4th November

Neil and R were to have their inductions/health check at the gym today but Neil was not feeling too good so his is cancelled for another day so I went along for his instead.
R loved it and even did 20 minutes on the cross-trainer. She went on the spin bike, the rowing machine and several weights machines. I worked out alongside her and then also went on the treadmill. We stayed there for over 2 hours. It was great.

R and I are going tomorrow after school. We can catch the bus about 5pm and Neil can pick us up from there on his way home at 6.45pm. R wanted to go in th pool but we didn't today so we will take along swim stuff tomorrow just in case we want to get in the pool too.
